Hornblower and the Crisis (vt Hornblower During the Crisis) was first published in 1967, the last novel written by C.S. Forester before his death. It was not finished, but notes he left behind were written in the end of the novel so that the reader may discover his intentions.
The book also contains 2 short stories Hornblower and the Widow McCool (first published in 1951) and The Last Encounter (written in 1964)
