Q: What's the difference between the "Sipe" and the PPOR?
A: The "Sipe" and PPOR are the same thing. Ajo's staff has nicknamed the PPOR "Sipe". The formal name is PPOR. Ajo calls it PPOR, and "D" and the staff call it "Sipe".
Q: Is "D" human? He occasionally spits out something resembling a ball bearing or a marble....
A: He's human. He's constantly sucking on them like candy. I might digress from our discussion on the story, but Wakagi also uses a slingshot. "D" spits the balls and Wakagi shoots them with a slingshot. It's not quite children fighting, but I thought it might be an interesting element.
Q: How does the PPOR's control system "erode" a person?
A: That is part of the mystery that will be resolved in the film, so I don't want to reveal too much. But I'm sure you've noticed how often the word "gel" is mentioned in the video. One uses gel to control the "Sipe". And this gel is a very important element to a human's well-being. Controlling the "Sipe" is very taxing on one's gel, so it's damaging work for the operator.
Q: What is "gel"?
A: I'd like to hold off on answering that. That will also be revealed in the film. For now, I can't go into details. But the mystery will be revealed in the series.
Q: In Greek mythology, "Minos" is the king of Crete who builds the Labyrinth, and imprisons the Minotaur. It's a rather dark image. Does the name "Minos" in Key carry that image too?
A: I haven't really linked the images. The name certainly comes from Greek mythology, but most of the names in Key are inspired names. I didn't have a deep reason for linking Ajo with the mythological Minos. Ajo and Aoi, the president of Minos, might have a reason within the context of the story why they named their production "Minos," but I don't know what they thought at that moment.
