And (I can't express well in Polish) Bangumi is a comparatively nice place on the Simplified-Chinese-speaking (or writing?) internet, where there is not that many maniacs who clamor for waging a war against Japan and kill all the people in Tokyo, and think that Russia is righteous to "reclaim their land", etc. Those people are now unfortunately the mainstream. Here in Bangumi, you can still sit and discuss peacefully (well, to some extent) anime. You can say something against the Party and the government (although you must say it in riddles) and not necessarily considered a surrenderer to the "evil Western world", or a "colonized".

Sure, I can see China is super pro Russia at this point, and it's so laudable that you're frank about the country's reality. Okamiyu said the same thing about Bangumi when he invited me here, and Japanese and Chinese users getting along is definitely a sight for sore eyes.
You're trustworthy to know this: my previous job in China was not confined to a teaching position, I was also a human rights activist, aimed at helping marginalized and persecuted people. But a student of mine turned me in(thankfully I was spared in the end), and he was that type of Z person who thought Russia was rightful to claim Ukrainian territories.

So glad you're here, letting me know that there're still friendly people who are willing to contemplate on the actual (faktyczny także aktualny) situation Chinese people are in, even trying to lend a hand.
Yet the situation is heading to the worse, year after year. I find it difficult for me to understand why the Chinese gen Z , who grew up with the internet, can get converted to extreme populism, nationalism and even totalitarianism so easily. At this very moment, countless of them are playing Western games via Steam (in which Simplified Chinese has become the most used default language setting), while mocking the newly released The Game Award nominees list is a joke by the "white-skinned pigs". Even here in Bangumi, there are those who call Japanese voice actresses "female Japs".
Everything in this country is about politics, yet everyone cannot discuss politics. (By the way, it is so ironic that "keyboard politics", which is used to despise political opinions posted on the internet, has the same pronunciation as "to witness" in Chinese.) The internet has not make people get to know each other better, on the contrary, it made people more divided. I can't do anything about it, so watching anime is part of my escapism.
(And, by writing these words above, I may be charged with "colluding with foreign powers" by the internet mobs. Fortunately, Bangumi has not yet corrupted completely. Yet still, this post can disappear at any time.)

I only see this post today, I am two weeks late myself.
He (PanPolska) did a lot of things in the past and it was very costly. I did a few smaller things (totally unrelated to him thankfully otherwise both are screwed up) and it was pretty costly too. Some of the cost, comes from our hearts.
And no, he wasn't spared. He was spared and not spared at the same time. It is complicated. Well, everything coming to China is complicated, isn't it?! I still feel sad about the part he wasn't spared, but I am thankful about the part he was spared.
It took me a year of the delay to learn the part he wasn't spared. I still regret about my excessive delay in realization. I didn't pay enough attention.

Those Chinese pinky fanatics, are incomprehensible to my mind. And they are not the only problem. To me, China and Russia is pretty tied together at this stage, those two countries are very integrated by this point. Kids from Russia are nearly equally insane after 2022.
Those Gen Z, and the younger ones, despite their better grooming (and let's be frank about it, they do look much better physically than their parents, they are much better fed with much better skin, taller with more beautiful body, etc) and better appearance, the moment they start to show who they are and how they are, it is unbearable. It is utterly terrible, it is nearly like the beautiful elves (from the Lord of the Rings) turning out actually the orcs.
Tolkien's legendarium, orcs are related to elves, as they are corrupted and twisted descendants of Elves captured by the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. Morgoth tortured and mutilated the Elves, corrupting them into the first orcs.
When I was a child, I saw the Lord of the Rings as a fairy tale (of course, not that naive). After learning history, living my life (a big part of it is unpleasant, even though some part isn't bad), especially in the last two years, with some input from some people with amazing abilities, I realized it is a true story. Of course not a true story on the surface level, but it is a true story I partially have lived deeper underneath.

Annon allen an nangweth! That's a very interesting analogy, that I didn't think of.
The Lord of the Rings is to me the founder of the modern fantasy genre, telling a quite standard justice versus evil story (and I grew up reading Harry Potter, so LotR seemed like some kind of advanced work to be read next). All is so ideal, the love story of Lúthien and Beren, the utopian Shire, the noble Dúnedain... Even someone who was corrupted by the One Ring, like Boromir, retained his glory until the end.
Possibly because of Tolkien's Christian nature, in LotR, the victory of Justice seems predestined. No matter how the Dark Lord has brought havoc to the world, evil shall always be defeated and the Kingdom Come awaits. The reality just would not be so idealistic.

Thank you for your kind words. It is very warm. I used to be more familiar with Elvish before spring 2024. My email signature in my former employer was written in Elvish. It is a language I adore. (and it is one of a big reason I hang on to Yandex translation despite my long de-Russification process, because Yandex has Elvish translation)
I saw the movies as a child, I love the music May It Be, but I never get the deeper meaning with the references to the history until an older age. I got to learn Tolkien had formed very tight friendships with a few boys in his school during teenage years (through movie, archives later) and most of them perished due to the war. I never lost close friends myself (thankfully) but even extended time being away from them brings me great distress. (for them too. One friend cried through a few weeks when he lost contact with me. He was so happy when I mysteriously appeared in front of him a year later. I did this again 5yrs ago, and he was very happy. Another one was overjoyed when I reappeared after nearly a decade)
This level of the joy of reunion, hints me the darkness of the sadness when friends die. I cannot imagine what Tolkien suffered in heart. I am aware of some of his questionable conducts, but in the face of life and death, the greatness of good and evil, all seems so trivial. (Similar to how Lord Mountbatten was alive)
And the Nazgul, the dead marshes, and monsters in the sky, all of them seemed like myths to me at first. But everything makes sense after going through Battlefield 1, when I realized those evil elements came from the war. Passchendaele is the most disgusting map (entire map is full of green gas, mustard gas), and in real life it was gruesome, but it looks just like dead marshes, even the colour. Nazgul nearly looked just like the German horses with gas mask in Passchendaele! I cried on the gaming laptop when this realization struck me. (I managed to hang on to the game for a while longer until PTSD completely deprived it from me) Once the similarities are seen, they cannot be unseen.
As you have mentioned, in my eyes, the OP feels like Beren of Dúnedain. Well, all those characters are real in a sense, and I live in a place like the Shire (so people there tend to be a bit too naive, something I find difficult to put up with).
I think, it is more than the Christian nature leading to the Victory of justice. I believe it is simply the rule of the universe, when the justice prevails, eventually. Evil cannot sustain. But I am uncertain if we can live to see the victory, however.
And Dead Men of Dunharrow? I am very upset about it. It happens in Ukraine today, every faction, regardless of side comes alive like Dead Men of Dunharrow to my horror. Gradually at a point of time I didn't even know myself, I am like one of the Dead Men of Dunharrow as well. It still haunts me.
(Even though OP is one foot in the war already, but he isn't a part of the Dead Men of Dunharrow, thankfully. He is more like an Elf or one of the Dunedain)
