In a follow-up to Thor: The Dark World, the team cleans up after the events of the film where they uncover a plot to obtain all three pieces of an Asgardian Berserker Staff. The team try to head off a neo-paganism group who have obtain the first piece of the staff in Norway, by retrieving the other two pieces in Spain and Ireland. They do so with the help of Dr. Elliot Randolph (Peter MacNicol), who is revealed to be an Asgardian who has lived on Earth for a millennia. Agent May manages to help Ward defeat the group in combat, combining all pieces of the staff. In the final scene, Coulson is revealed to have a nightmare that his recuperation in Tahiti is not real.
