Xavier sends Jean Grey on a mission to recruit her as one of the X-Men, only to find out that she has already been won over by Lance Alvers, otherwise known as the mutant Avalanche with the ability to cause earthquakes and tremors.
Note: First appearance of Shadowcat & Avalanche. Also the first time that Wolverine fights his rival, Sabretooth.
