It was produced by Barry Letts, directed by Peter Duguid, and starred Tom Baker as Sherlock Holmes and Terence Rigby as Doctor Watson.The adaptation aired as a four-part serial.The serial is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's 1902 Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of the Baskervilles. 缺乏亮點、非常平庸的一版，雖忠於原作，什麼情節都有，基本毫無改編，但正因如此顯得毫無重點和節奏冗長，也沒有任何值得記住的表演，亨利爵士還矮小得十分影響觀感，唯一亮點可能是同樣忠於原作插圖的福爾摩斯月下現身鏡頭，總之非常平淡，毫無緊張感。
