Sherlock Holmes is awakened in modern times from suspended animation as a result of an earthquake. He is aided in his recovery by Dr. Amy Winslow, who lives in Baker Street in San Francisco. 沒有那麼難看，但是跟87年同樣題材的電影比起來，會顯得很自我重複，而且情節就算不去比較也有點沒意思，比較時會缺少了很多喜劇色彩和原作要素。比起那片更像日後的基本演繹法了，有黑人警探和協助者，但是比較讓我疑惑的是這片福爾摩斯的身份問題，就好像他一直頂著這個被看似虛擬角色的名字活躍，卻沒有正常人覺得有很大問題，87年電影裡至少還讓他頂著西格森的假名。
